This is not how I was envisioning the upcoming post-pandemic times, and I hope my colleagues and acquaintances who hail from those parts of the world are safe.
Instead of an economic boom, this risks tanking various economies (not just Russia’s), kneecapping any sort of industry developments in Europe, and raising tensions everywhere else (like Taiwan, which China may feel emboldened enough to take in, thereby tanking the entire semiconductor industry and plunging us into a Digital Dark Age).
The main thing is that after Trump and COVID I’m kind of done “living in interesting times”, and would really like to just get on with things without another five years of impending doom stemming from maniacs or pestilence.
