The Apple Store was briefly closed for updates, and the new PowerBook lineup is online. Sadly, the rumors for a 13" 16x9 model came to nothing, but the new model specs are nonetheless quite interesting.
For $1,599.00, the 12" model packs:
- Combo Drive ($200 more for a SuperDrive)
- 1.33GHz PowerPC G4 (512K L2 cache)
- 256MB DDR333 SDRAM
- 60GB Ultra ATA/100
- NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 (64MB DDR)
- 10/100BASE-T Ethernet
- Firewire 400
- Built-In AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth
- Mini-DVI out
iBooks were also updated, and their specs are proportional. Apple has kept a clear distinction between both ranges, but it is worth noting that the 12" iBook now packs a 1GHz PowerPC CPU at just US$1099 - a very nice laptop for that price.
