This (and the linked examples) was chilling, and I’ve been listening to neural network synthesized voices for a while.
I suspect the reason why it feels more impressive than other forms of generative AI is that we are hard-wired for vocal interaction, and that Steve was such an important figure for some of us–but I agree with John that people (and media) are not ready for this.
