41 years ago my first personal computer was launched, and it boggles the mind to think how far we’ve come since.
Although I spent a lot more time using the ZX Spectrum, the ZX81 (which we got as a kit) was also an excuse to upgrade the little black and white TV we dined in front of in the kitchen and move it to the fold-out desk in the living room where I did my homework, after which I would spend hours typing in programs from magazines and fiddling with cassette tapes.
I don’t miss tweaking tape heads, but I do miss the sense of wonder and infinite possibilities I got from playing with that tiny little plastic box.
