I find this kind of piece fascinating, given that after last.fm
decided to pull the plug on their prospective European customers, I’ve
pretty much given up on wasting battery life and bandwidth to listen to
streaming music. I do, however, use MusicBox a lot these days (full
disclosure: it’s a SAPO managed service with which I’ve had a passing
involvment and that I also get as part of my IPTV subscription, but I
like the iOS player with offline caching, the way it lets me download 10
DRM-free tracks a month, and the “AirPlay”com/apple/airplay support
that lets me listen to stuff on my stereo). I have had it for nearly a
year and the pricing/use model is pretty sensible, so I mostly wonder
what all the fuss is about when people talk about music lockers and
online distribution these days.
