darcs is another replacement for CVS that has some of the intriguing features of monotone and a slightly less "way out there in orbit" feel.
It will not, however, get anywhere. To get it running, you need a Haskell compiler, which in turn is almost impossible to get going if (get this) you don't happen to have one installed in the first place. Which essentially means you're stuck downloading binaries (which is no good for me, since I need something that I can compile on any UNIX myself).
