Rui CarmoGobby is a free, multi-platform text editor that, like SubEthaEdit, allows for collaborative document editing (as well as multi-user chat):
Sadly, it requires X11 to run on the Mac (since it uses GTK+), but seems to work in Gnome (Linux and BSD) and Windows environments.
