Notes for March 11-12

When things are so-so, they can always get worse. Much worse, often in multiple dimensions at once.

Woke up in a country where the right-wing party increased their representation four-fold, wherein by “right-wing” I actually mean “those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it” or far, far worse. I have full faith in incompetence to assert itself over time, but it’s going to be a rough ride.

If you want a less snarky explanation, this video has you covered.
  • Spent an hour cleaning out the electronics and plastic debris from the weekend and vacuuming the office.
  • Dusted off my , which amazingly still works.
  • Grabbed my work laptop and moved to the living room for most of the day, since I have an amazing view now that the sun is shining.
  • Ended the day “early” before 8pm, because I had a feeling I was going to have a rough week.
  • Relaxed a bit playing with System 8.1 for #MARCHintosh on my electronics bench:
Running on a Pi Zero 2W, and (apologies) captured on an actual camera because of the weird video resolution.

And yes, there’s a metaphor in the way Internet Explorer crashes the whole thing.

Pretty impactful corporate reorg –at about the same time as my building water main ruptured.

As Douglas Adams famously quipped, I definitely can’t get the hang of Tuesdays.

Before that happened:

  • Took some breakfast time to push my snapdrop fork to GitHub. Needs a few more tweaks and excision of odd bits of code, but has held up to regular use over the past few weeks.
  • Put up a SKADIS pegboard at lunchtime, which of course meant 3D printing some hooks and adapters.

Nothing much happened after that . I was too busy dealing with the fallout from the water main and the reorg, and that went on for a while.

Good thing I ripped the album this single came from over 20 years ago.
