As usual I cannot really comment about this other than saying that like all external perspectives, Tom Warren’s doesn’t have the full picture, and that I am linking to this more for historical purposes than for anything else.
Mind you, it is a better take than Bloomberg’s, but I’ve seen so many mis-quotes on LinkedIn over the weekend that I just had to link to it as a trigger for those wild extrapolations.
Many people quoting or linking to it think this was just about AI, and any value in understanding how these decisions ripple through morale and job security–which I think was the editorial reasoning behind the original, somewhat gamey title–were completely lost, as was the reality that the technology landscape is changing in more profound ways than the AI hype fest would lead you to believe.
