Roli files for administration and becomes Luminary ➹

This is sad.

I have a few ROLI controllers (a ROLI SongMaker Kit, a Lumi and a standalone Block I carry with me on vacation, since it is a pretty compact 2-octave “keyboard”) and quite like their Equator soft synth, so I’m curious as to what will happen to that, not to mention all the software required to even configure the controllers.

Hopefully some of it will be sold, or open sourced, or at least reverse engineered… The Block Dashboard iOS app I use did not spring from a void, so I assume there is enough documentation out there for that to happen.

I’m also curious as to what this means for MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE). I got my first ROLI set because I was fascinated with MPE and have seen very little in the way of industry support for it, so I’m guessing that is going to languish as well.
