Tim puts it better than I have time to right now. I share his bafflement at the mess front-end development is in, and more besides - I think we’re doing apps all wrong, and that something has to give in terms of both rich interaction and inter-app data management, since without a unifying abstraction (like, say, a filesystem) there are now simply too many little silos of messy, disconnected and often redundant information for “normals” to keep track of.
