The user experience is absolutely wonderful, but they lost me at the Node requirement.
Don’t get me wrong, I have Node installed and got it running in
seconds, but to this day I get the shivers when I run npm
to install
anything, and the entire ecosystem, runtime, etc. feels so brittle I’d
rather just… not.
Still, this is another pebble onto the pile of a growing opinion that JavaScript is the modern equivalent of Ethernet - it couldn’t possibly work reliably at all in the beginning, is full of weird corner cases, has been hacked to be insanely faster than it probably ever should and can now be found damn near everywhere, besides having a whole mess of things running atop it.
