An utterly brilliant rant about the realities of IT, written in response to a piece on Slate that, in turn, ought to be turned into a reference text of why a “clueless reporter detector” (preferably one tied to a baseball bat) ought to be standard issue on any media outlet worth its salt. A lot of people have no idea of these realities but a few are so utterly clueless that the damage they can do by being so deserves to be singled out.
Update: The follow-up is just as good, if not better.
