Went over to Apple to drop off my iBook for repairs. The good news first:
- It is, indeed, a free repair.
- We got it working for long enough that I could copy some of my source code to my USB key.
The bad news:
- They didn't have the replacement part in stock, so I ended up bringing the iBook back, to try and make a full backup between freezes. They'll call me back in three to five days (most likely a week, given that Friday and Monday are holidays) so bring the machine in.
- The cab commute was Eur. 10 on the long leg (ouch, I really should think about driving again).
