I've decided to kill off my ageing (and troublesome) dual 933MHz XP box and sell off the parts. Although the hardware itself has been giving me some trouble lately, the main reason is that maintaining a PC (at least one with Windows inside it) is just too much hassle - my RedHat box is humming away flawlessly with only the occasional tweak, my Macs just work - period - and yet I end up spending hours every week pampering XP.
One of the things that annoys me the most is that it's damn near impossible here in Portugal to go into a shop, pick out a really cheap Mini-ITX box (i.e., a barebones combo under Eur.300) and walk out the door. Inflated margins and the total lack of a Fry's-like offering make it a pain to shop for parts or to assemble your own boxes over here...
I expect to have a lot of... er..."fun" migrating stuff to my Linux box - I feel some technical notes coming on...
