Some notes on something I tried to put together to read my news on the bus. Alas, with the death of my Palm, I now rely on my 7650 to read news via GPRS.

Basic Concept:

  • Plucker fetches my news around 6:00 AM and stores them as .pdb files on the Linux box
  • I hotsync my Palm to it (via Bluetooth or IRDA) before leaving, using only the file sync conduit (to save time and not mess up my standard Hotsync config)

Initial tests showed that it takes around 30 sec to sync 100K worth of news, so anyone with some spare time is encouraged to pursue this.
