The comments on this blog post put it way better than I ever could. I’ve always considered Fireworks to be the tool for doing prototype layouts, and vastly more effective than Photoshop for mixing bitmap and vector art. I tend to use a mix of Sketch and Pixelmator these days, but I still miss it. If Adobe sold Fireworks as a standalone app on the Mac and Windows 8 app stores, it would make a killing. But no, they’re going for the cloud subscription mirage, and will fail miserably.
